The apprenticeship program consists of a 6-week training with the 16 day intensive at its core. Apprentices will work on-site before and after the workshop taking a building from foundation to roofing. Apprentices will learn by doing all the major aspects unique to EcoNest construction while crafting the shell of an EcoNest. Each training will provide valuable experience in most of the following: foundation, timber-framing, conventional framing, clay/straw wall building, natural plasters, roof framing, exterior trim, roofing, door window installation, floors, cabinetry, electrical coordination, plumbing coordination, site work, rock work.
Through a series of classroom sessions, apprentices will also have the opportunity to learn the philosophy and theory behind natural building in general and the EcoNest clay/fiber design and building system and its integration with an ecological site design.
The apprenticeship positions are offered twice a year. Enrollment is limited and based on skill and merit. The positions tend to fill well in advance. For further information on enrollment please contact Robert directly at Robert@econest.com
