For The Love of Geometry

Marguerite Wilson is an accomplished quilter.  Her love of creation through precise geometry has also led her to study the ancient Vedic science of built space. She based thedesign of her 2,100 sq. ft. home and 650sq.ft. studio compound  onthe system of sacred geometry as taught by the Vedic scholar Dr. G.V. Sthapati of India and by the American University of Mayonic Science and Technology. The design contains 9-square geometry, precise cubit-based measure and exact placementof walls, doors and windows. The central square is a dramatic focal point of the whole composition topped by a cupola and surrounded by clerestory windows. The cupola was built on the ground and raised into place with the help of a crane.

Will Prull, our Santa Fe EcoNestaffiliate, was Marguerite’s general contractor and Robert led an lively 16 day workshop for the building of the central timber-frame, clay/straw walls and cupola.  15incredible students  came from all over the country to participate in the event.
